DT | Laguindingan Airport modernization is being put on by DOTr | MANILA – For the purpose of developing and modernizing the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental province, the DOTr has extended an invitation to private sector contractors to submit proposals.
Following the approval of an unsolicited proposal from Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. to upgrade, expand, operate, and maintain the airport under a public-private partnership (PPP), the DOTr announced on Friday that the Laguindingan International Airport Project (LIAP) is now part of the national government’s infrastructure flagship projects.
According to the statement, the proposal has been authorized and accepted by the NEDA Board in accordance with Republic Act 11966, often known as the PPP Code of the Philippines.
For the LIAP’s financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance over its 30-year concession period, the DOTr and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) requested that private businesses participate in a “comparative challenge process” by submitting comparative proposals.
In addition to developing international flights, the airport’s capacity will be expanded according to market demand. To improve the airport’s environmental and operational performance, new concepts of sustainability and connectivity will be introduced as part of the airport development project.
The project’s end goal is to enhance the passenger experience and introduce commercial services to the landside and extended terminal.
